Cheam Sports Club ::NEWS::

Neil Perkins, Anthony Gilbert & Mark Stainer (aka Smokey) will be attempting the Rickshaw Run in September 2012, India.

They will be travelling from a town called Shillong located in the far eastern area of India to Jaisalmer in the west. The distance travelled will total approximately 2,688km over the space two weeks in a Rickshaw that will barely do 30mph if you push it off a cliff. They'll be travelling across the most treacherous terrain in nothing more than a baked bean tin on wheels and an oldschool map to guide them. Best of luck.......;-)

In support of the event they have decided to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. Muscular dystrophy is a group of inherited disorders that involve muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue, which get worse over time.

HOW IT WORKS

Members of the CDC subscribe for one or more units of £1 per month – each unit is allocated a number and entered into the monthly PRIZE DRAW. The size of the prize depends on the number of units but each £1 is distributed as follows:

50p to the prize fund

20p to the monthly draw
30p to the BONUS DRAW each June and December

25p to YOUR SECTION
25p to CHEAM SPORTS CLUB

Members subscribe by monthly or annual standing order and may join AT ANY TIME. Alternatively you may pay annually in advance by CASH OR CHEQUE.

SIMPLY COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM AND RETURN IT TO THE SPORTS CLUB (marked CDC) and for the attention of JANE WIDMER

REMEMBER! Half of what is raised goes into the prize fund, and your section and the Club benefits from the rest – a very simple, affordable way of showing your support.
Funds raised for the Club will be spent on specific items intended to benefit all Members.

Congratulations to Gemma Barnett, Member of Cheam Bowling Club

We are delighted to announce that Gemma has been selected as a Senior England International and thus becomes the first Cheam bowler to achieve full International status whilst a member of the club. (Chris Young and Paul Coleman are also full internationals, but achieved that while with other clubs). She has also been selected as a reserve for the European Team Bowls Championships being hosted at the Vilamoura BC in Portugal from 5 – 12 November 2011

The BIWBC Internationals are being held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 21st., 22nd. and 23rd. June 2011 at Llandrindod Wells BC, in Wales. England play 2 matches on the Tuesday and 2 matches on the Wednesday.

We're delighted the Clubhouse is busier than ever and for some time now we've had a lot of regular bookings, especially during the week.

So, please don't forget you need to make a booking for the Connolly Room rather than assume it can be yours even if someone else has already booked! You can check the online diary and make a booking directly from the website.

SMOKING OUTSIDE THE CLUBHOUSE - REMINDER!

Following a lot of feedback from users of both Cheam Sports Club and Nuffield, the area outside the entrance to both Clubs is completely non-smoking.

Smokers from the Sports Club are asked to walk around the building and use the pathway at the rear before the patio. Please use the ash-bins provided.
